When we serve in ministry, we are not just filling a spot, we are helping make Jesus known to every person who walks through our doors and into our church family. It’s about being part of something bigger than ourselves. Serving allows us to discover our gifts and our purpose and to show Christ’s love in real and practical ways.

WELCOME TEAMS

Sparta Baptist Church loves people. We are known for our welcoming atmosphere.  Would you like to be a part of continuing that legacy and making our church even more welcoming- especially to potential members?


We are looking for 2 WELCOME TEAMS: Outside & Inside


Outside Team:

  • Pray for our church and service,
  • Ensure grounds are free of trash before SS,
  • Put up welcome flags at least 10 min. before SS,
  • Take down and store welcome flags after church,
  • Welcome and assist individuals as they arrive,
  • Provide direction to various areas of the church,
  • Distribute bulletins/programs.


Inside:

  • Pray for our church and service,
  • Ensure upbeat background music is playing,
  • Ensure the sanctuary and RRs are tidy, 
  • Stock prayer/visitor cards and pencils in pews,
  • Greet visitors upon arrival,
  • Escort visitors with small children to upstairs childcare area,
  • Get basic contact information from visitors.

Youth Team

Would you like to see more youth attend our church? Would you like to see these youth more connected to Christ? 

We are looking for a team to support Grayson and the Youth Committee in the ministry to our youth. This team would:


  • Pray for youth minister and our youth.
  • Meet with youth minister and youth committee at the beginning of each quarter to plan activities,
  • Organize chaperones/transportations for events,
  • Organize a rotation of members to provide simple dinners for Wednesday Youth Huddle,
  • Invite prospects to SS and church.
  • Assist with youth VBS.

Kids Team

Would you like to see more kids attend our church? We are looking for a team to:


  • Pray for consistency in attendance,
  • Plan small quarterly events to draw kids to our church,
  • Assist Pastor Brian in creating a small, upstairs childcare room for church services,
  • Organize a weekly rotation of members to assist Mae with childcare during services,
  • Assist with VBS.

Technology Team

Church services & events should always focus on Jesus. Would you like to share (or learn) technology skills that would create a distraction-free environment that supports Spirit-led worship? This team would:

  • Pray for our church family and services,
  • Manage slideshows, videos, and presentations,
  • Troubleshoot technical issues during services,
  • Collaborate with Paster Brian and Merilyn to enhance the audiovisual experience of services,
  • Operate sound and visual equipment during services/events
  • Edit media content for church use,
  • Work with Pastor Brian to frequently update the church website,
  • Collaborate with other teams to enhance the media experience.

5th Sunday Game Night Team

Would you like to be a part of creating a new, family fellowship for our church?  This 5th Sunday event would also be part of a larger outreach to invite others to our church. We are looking for a team to:

  • Pray for our church family and for the game night
  • Plan and organize a relaxed and informal event with a variety of game stations and plenty of space for conversation,
  • Organize the game set-up,
  • Explain the game process to the group at the beginning of the event,
  • Organize members to contribute a light meal or snacks,
  • Organize a clean-up crew for the event.

Public Relations & Communictions Team

Come be a part of increasing the Sparta Baptist’s communication with members and with the community. We are looking for a team to:


  • Pray for our church family, 
  • Manage and update social media platforms for the church,
  • Create engaging content/posts & print materials,
  • Coordinate with other teams to promote church events and activities.

Photography & Video Team

Photos tell a story. You could be part of showing the stories of what God is doing in and through our church. This team would use their phones or personal cameras to:

  • Take candid shots of church-wide and group events,
  • Curate and edit photos to prepare for FB and Website presentation.
  • Share pictures/video with Pastor Brian and the Public Relations in a timely manner,
  • Share photos on an agreed-upon platform,
  • Research (https://www.benstapley.com/blogphototeam) and other sites in order to improve skills.
  • You would also pray for our church family and that God would use this ministry for His Glory
